Baa Baa black sheep!

Once a month the senior missionaries from our mission get together for a Family Home Evening. On Monday we traveled with the Crossleys to south Auckland and enjoyed a meal and the opportunity to meet all of the Seniors. We had a great time getting to know them. We talked about family history and then went into the Family Search app and discovered that half of the people in the room were related to us.....mostly 8-10 generations back! There was a quirky resemblance, once we saw this photo!

The next picture is a screen shot of another family history discovery!

We made it back to Wellsford Monday evening and then headed up to Whangarai early Tuesday for our District Council meeting. Lisa made homemade brownies for the 9 Elders for after the meeting, which was a big hit.
We attended our 2nd Maori class in the evening and were totally impressed by the young children who help us with the songs and the dance moves! The children learn Maori as a 2nd language in the schools.

Wednesday we were back up in Dargaville , where we were able to visit with the Gilligan family, and learn about some of the Dargaville history. We then  met up with the Elders in the evening and assisted with teaching Jessica about the commandments. Jessica has accepted a baptismal invitation, but has not yet set a date. She has a few more lessons to be taught first.

This is a picture near Dargaville of how they launch their boats off the beaches!

Lisa made persimmon cookies on Thursday, so we stopped by the Chapman family and left them a message and a plate of cookies.

On Friday Lisa was able to spend some time with her sewing group and nearly completed the quilt she is working on to give to a mother who just had a baby in Dargaville.

We also held a FHE (Family home evening) with Campbell Richards and his family. In addition to his 5 daughters, his niece and his cousin JJ  were there too. Such a sweet family. We taught about being children of God, shared a video, played a game and then shared homemade sugar cookies.

On Saturday we drove 20 miles to the Mangahwhai Farmers Market and ran into several people that we have gotten to know from Wellsford.  We talked with Anna, one of our community choir directors, Marie, one of Lisa's sewing group members  and then several of the vendors we had seen a few weeks ago. We also talked to an artist, whose son married someone from the US and they are currently living in Clovis, California! Truly a small world!
We bought some lunch from the market and then took a short drive to Te Arai Beach to eat and watch the surfers.

On Sunday, Lisa and I spoke in the Wellsford Branch. We were very excited to have several of our ministering families in attendance, the Bodys, Buxtons and Campbell Richards families.
Later in the afternoon we held a  FHE with the Buxton family and taught them about being children of God.

No matter where we go....we seem to have those who like to stare at us?!

The following is a cute commercial that is currently playing in New Zealand

We are grateful to be here, the people are lovely and kind and we are stretching and learning so much! May the Lord's blessings be with you!
